”Every truth passes through three stages before it is recognized. In the first, it is ridiculed. In the second, it is opposed. In the third, it is regarded as self evident.” - Arthur Schopenhauer
This is a very interesting concept and the more you think about it the more self evident this idea becomes. People are very often laughed at when they have an original idea & greeted with, 'Oh, that will never work!'
Very often ideas are strongly opposed and may divide teams as they are comprised of risk takers and those who stick to conventional thinking. Yet these so called silly ideas may prove to be revolutionary & even change society. On a small scale I imagined the 'umbrella hat' when I was very young (around 5 years) as I hated holding the silly thing and ultimately it came into being. Yes, as a novelty but the point is that 'my' silly idea was also someone else's & they made it happen!
This shows us how we need to investigate our ideas regardless of how they are received if we truly believe they have potential, which is the key. Even the umbrella hat was a money spinner... and look at cigarettes, pure madness; so the phrase for today bouncing on the back of this is:
'Trust in your own judgement and be relentless in pursuing your ideas'
