Isaiah 40:
29-31
‘He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even
youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope
in the Lord will renew their strength.’
Sometimes we become tired for no apparent reason and at
others we have a myriad of reasons. Tiredness is created from physical or
mental causes, some of which is necessary and normal.
Long lasting tiredness is different and may be indicative of
an underlying problem. Illness is an obvious cause as is depression or being in
a state of emotional conflict. Whatever the reasons, we are reassured of
renewed strength if we trust in God.
This is something that we can easily over look if we are
used to tackling everything ourselves. When we go about life under our own
strength we are self- limiting. There are short periods when we relax and renew
energy and we can assist ourselves positively through various different means
including yoga, meditation and other forms of healing and inner renewal. God is
promising a kind of renewal that increases our power and ability to pick up
life and move on. Interestingly emphasis is put upon the youth whom we would
think of as energetic, yet this identification is very real- as those of you
with teenagers will relate to!
Next time you feel tired and weary, remember this promise
and claim it for your own.
