Snapshots From The Bible Week 52 ~ Galatians 6 v 9- Helping Others

Galatians 6:9

‘Don’t get tired of helping others. You will be rewarded when the time is right if you don’t give up.’
It is good to end the year thinking of others rather than ourselves. Yes, we need to focus upon our individuality and understand who we are and to know the purpose of our lives. Sometimes this may not seem very clear, however if you take time to meditate and relax into yourself you will come to understand better.
All of us are here to help others- no man is an island therefore we cannot live an isolated existence. We are blessed with different talents so that we may assist one another in different ways. Maybe you help those around you on a daily basis, friends, family, colleagues, however it might be good to see if there is any voluntary work available where you can utilise specific skills. Help comes in many forms; sometimes  this means listening to people's problems or it could involve practical assistance such as helping someone with their CV or laying a carpet- very different yet necessary skills.
There are times when we can become tired helping others, especially if people are constantly seeking our help. My sister has an endless flow of people relying upon her yet I have never known her refuse. Sometimes I wonder how she copes with all those demands but being a strong Christian  finds internal strength through her faith. Helping others can be draining and there will be occasions when we need to take a temporary break- in other words, vacations are great, but we should always help those in genuine need.
Don’t give up- how we love that phrase in today’s society. Go for it and never give up so that you will be rewarded when the time is right. This passage refers to eternal rewards but knowing we have helped someone is a reward in itself.
In 2014 we need to keep up the good work! Make a definite effort to find ways of helping others and never be too proud to ask for help when you need it.
Wishing you all a happy and blessed New Year.
